Illuminations at the Jardin des Plantes

This winter, the Jardin des Plantes presents ‘En voie d’illumination: Lumières de la Nature’ (On the path to illumination: Lights of Nature), a night-time stroll where the illumination of living things reaches a rare degree of sophistication.

From 12 November 2025 to 18 January 2026, the site will be open every evening from 6pm to 10pm, offering a journey whose elegance lies as much in its scientific precision as in the finesse of its scenography.

Visitors will pass through four worlds: mineral, terrestrial, marine and celestial, designed as natural salons where light reveals what daylight barely touches: the subtle fluorescence of minerals, the organic halos of the plant world, the controlled flashes of marine bioluminescence and celestial phenomena, recreated with an almost jeweller’s attention to detail.

In the hushed calm of the 5th arrondissement, this walk becomes a luxurious interlude: that of a historic garden which, when night falls, discreetly reveals the luminous splendours of the natural world, like a cabinet of curiosities open to the sky.
