La Maison Guimet – situated in the Hôtel d’Heidelbach – reopened its doors this spring following an ambitious refurbishment. This exceptional venue is writing a new chapter in its history and offers a new programme of events, ranging from tastings to gatherings centred on the art of tea in Asia.

The Maison Guimet was conceived as a new showcase for the collections of the museum of the same name. It offers a unique opportunity to highlight a remarkable collection of Chinese ceremonial furniture.

In the atrium, the display cases now house a collection of Qing Dynasty porcelain birds from the Grog-Carven donation, highlighting the artistic craftsmanship of 18th-century China and its influence on European decorative refinement, inspired by the same period.

A brand-new space dedicated to the art of tea has also just been created as part of the refurbishment. Visitors can look forward to a fully immersive experience, discovering Chinese and Japanese traditions through a selection of objects and ceramics linked to tea rituals.

This new space, situated on the ground floor of the hotel, is home to the Bamboo Space, a tea room designed by the Chinese designer Jiang Qiong Er and donated by Shang Xia.

A comprehensive programme of events, including guided tours, literary events and introductions to Chinese teas and Japanese ceremonies, offers a cultural and sensory experience. A journey without leaving the capital.
